Sculptra® is prepared for you 48 hours prior to the date of treatment and has a brief shelf life. Due to this reason, cancellation must be received before 12:00 pm at least three business days prior to your appointment.
Treatments that require numbing cream:
- Apply a thin layer of anesthetic cream (like peanut butter on bread) to the treatment area, then cover with plastic wrap and reapply as needed OR reapply every 10–15 minutes, if plastic wrap is not used. Anesthetic cream should be applied at least 1½–2 hours prior to treatment. Good anesthesia generally occurs within 45 minutes and lasts for a couple of hours.
- DO NOT wash off anesthetic cream or remove plastic wrap prior to arriving in the office. New safety precaution requires that you wear a face mask in the office. The plastic wrap will protect your mask from the anesthetic cream. We will have you wash the area prior to treatment.
- For full-face treatment, apply the cream to the skin of the face, starting at the hairline, to the ears, the nose, down to the jawline and chin. Avoid the eyelids and lips. LMX 15- and 30-gram tubes are sufficient to cover the entire face for 2–4 treatments; LMX 5-gram tube is sufficient to cover cheeks and temples for 1 treatment.
- Please notify the physician or staff member if you have any ointment or cream allergies. This cream should not be used on broken skin.
